Important Notice
Before paying membership fees, please carefully read and follow the application instructions.
Membership payments are accepted only after your application has been reviewed and
approved by the Founders’ Juror Committee.
To apply for membership in the African American Artists Collective (AAAC), applicants must
submit the following:

Artist Statement

Artist Practice
-
10 Images (submitted along with the artist resume & statement)

Once reviewed and approved by the Founders’ Juror Committee, applicants will receive a formal
email letter of acceptance.
Payment is due only upon approval.​

Eligibility
​
Applicants must be 21 years or older and demonstrate background, training, or active
involvement in one or more of the following areas:

Additional Information
At this time, AAAC does not offer youth arts memberships and programs.
We recommend exploring opportunities with community-based organizations that provide youth
programming.
Levels of Membership
1. Emerging Artist
​

Beginning to establish a professional practice.
-
Early exhibition history (local shows, student work, or community projects).
-
May still be in school or recently graduated.
​
2. Mid-Career Artist​
-
Established exhibition record (regional and/or national).
-
Active involvement in arts organizations or collaborative projects.
-
Professional recognition, awards, or fellowships may apply.
3. Established / Experienced Artist​
-
Significant exhibition history (national or international).
-
Works held in collections, museums, or galleries.
-
Recognized contributions to the arts community (mentorship, leadership, publications, public art, etc.).

4. Senior / Legacy Artist (optional, if you’d like to honor pioneers)
​
-
Longstanding professional practice with historical impact.
-
Mentor and advisor role within the collective.
-
Considered a cultural bearer or legacy figure in the arts community.
